When the Buddha was asked what he had gained from his enlightenment, he replied.... absolutely nothing. Suggesting that what he had before enlightenment was really no different than what he had after. The Buddhists say that everyone already has Buddha Mind. The reason I think, is so that people don't go looking for something else. Even Jesus says...Rocognize what is in front of your face, and all the secrets will be revealed to you. Suggesting it is not a matter of getting something you don'a have, it is a matter of recognizing what is already there.

A short story; A poor beggar feels the cold winter coming. He has a few dollars, and questions whether he should buy food or a warm coat with the money. He decides the coat would last and serve him better. So he goes to a second hand store and buys this warm coat. He does not know at the time, that sewn into the lining of the coat is a large beautiful perfect diamond. He wears the coat all year, begging and feeling very poor. Here is the question....does he have the diamond or does he not have the diamond? I say he has the diamond. He just doesn't realize it.
