Consciousness seems different than matter. Consciousness is airy, empty, holding it is like trying to grasp a dream. Matter is substantial, if you drop it on your toe it hurts. But the two are in no way separate. When you don’t eat for a while, and your physical stomach gets smaller, a nerve impulse goes to your brain, and you feel “Hungry”. The physical domain of the human body is in direct contact with the expression of hunger in consciousness. Where is the separation? They are different, but not separate.
But, you say, look at all the diversity in the manifest world. Yes, it is diverse, but is anything separate from anything else. Are you separate from the air you breath, the food you eat, the water you drink. When you exhale carbon dioxide, in a few days a molecule can be taken up by trees in the African rainforest. From you to them! Everything in the physical world is interconnected and interdependent. Even one persons mind is not separate from another’s. Just by typing this, I am connecting with your mind, your thoughts. Look how many people’s minds Saniel is moving. So consciousness is not separate from the material. One material is not separate from another material. And one mind is not separate from another mind. Is separation real, or is this Unity.
