In response to rocking chair philosophy, or Porchomania, I must say you, John and Chris, are truly poets. I love the guitar string anology. I used to use electical inductance to try and explain transmission, how a wire with an current passing through it will induce a duplicat current to flow in a wire placed beside it due to the magnetic field around the original wire. No connection between the two wires is necessary to facilitate this phenomena. I much prefer the guitar string because it so un-technical and should be easily understood by anyone who listens to mucic. Transmission is for some, very hard to comprehend and that discription is so easily understood. The spoken, or written word has the same qualities, so those who listen or read will receive the message at a much deeper place than just the ear and the eye. I hope that my time in the rocker was well spent. Now, how about one of those Irish beers?
