I guess I'll be the first to bare my soul here. =) This poem is called "Never", and it came to me when I found a photograph in an old box in the cellar.

not a family
or a memory
just a picture
faded
wrinkled a little
a baby between two people
Man and Woman joined by Love
but where is that love now?
gambled away in the unfair game
of life
no father
no mother
and now no baby
the baby grew up
she’s looking at the picture
hands trembling
not really sure what she’s seeing
Man is happy
Woman indifferent
and the baby is innocent
as only babies can be
the girl listens closely
but hears no sound
and sees no memory
of these two and the baby
she knows only silence
of the family that never was
