That Sunday Sports Show.

Hi everyone I'm Katy Temple. Kirby Maus is out today as he makes his way to Peoria as spring training is set to begin. Before we get to the Cub's awesome rotation with the acquisition of Greg Maddux. A-rod's trade to the Yankees, as the Yankees once again try to buy their way on to a championship. Lets talk local sports and Padres baseball. As many of you know the 18A Padres recently acquired hometown favorite Ray Flores from the S.D. Marlins. The trade came in midst of another and familiar house cleaning by a Marlins championship team. Seems just like yesterday the Padres acquired Kevin Brown under very similar circumstances.

Will history repeat itself? The Padres are hoping so, we recently spoke with the Padres GM Luis Medina and obtained some insight as to what this trade means to the team. "We are very fortunate to get someone of Ray's caliber on this team. As we open the season in our new home field Hilltop High Park, we want to place the best possible team out on the field." It is our understanding Ray asked to be promised the number 1 spot on the rotation before he waived his NO TRADE CLAUSE. "I'm not at liberty to disclose negotiation details, but needless to say Ray will lead a solid rotation encompassed by crafty veterans and live young arms. We feel they give us the best opportunity to reach the championship game."

Here's what Manager Javier Medina had to say. "I'm very excited to be coaching Ray again. I still remember drafting and coaching Ray when were both member of the Lucky Waller Orioles Organization. Now to see Ray back as a Cy Young and a member of this team makes me feel like a little kid again, anxiously awaiting the start of the season."

The Padres have spurred a lot excitement for the hometown fans. Fueling this excitement was the acquisition of Ray via a trade and Andrew Schofield in the recent draft, and the non-draftee signings of Frank Flores, Alfredo Zubaite, and Pat Cronin. Lets not forget David Abdala who had an extrodinary Spring 2003 season and is coming back from a serious wrist injury suffered in the fall. This should be an exciting season.....
