Subject: National Nautical School History

I am one of the great grandsons of Henry Fedden, founder of the School. My mother Nancy Fedden was the eldest daughter of Vincent Fedden, one of Henry Fedden's son's.
On Vincent's death my grandmother continued as Chairman of the Governors.

One of her sisters is living, Mary Fedden, a celebrated painter, living in London.

I remember going with my grandmother to the Admiral's Inspection, probably in about 1957 or 58.

My particular interest now is to learn about the early history of BTS Formidable. Who were the Bristol people who paid for her? How were they organised? Who sailed the ship to Portishead? Who subscribed to the shore establishment? I am sure I have many more questions.

Only recently I learnt of The Portishead Nautical Trust with whom I am in correspondence.

Any information I can learn I will pass on to my Fedden cousins whom I feell sure will be interested.

I hope the reunion went well. David Garnett, Newark, Notts.
