Nebuchadnezzar:
A babylonian king who led his army to destroy and take over a multitude of countries.
I think they gave the ship it's name because it led them to the path of multiple victories, a strong name for a strong and willing group.

"Morpheus" is the Greek god of sleep and dreams (his name refers to the fact that dreams change you)

From what i've read, Neo is greek for "new". nothing else though.

The movie "The Matrix" was created from a story written by Plato called "The Allegory of the Cave" which is in the written books called "The Republic", which also created by Plato( extreeeemely long, so long that there are 10 books. http://classics.mit.edu/Plato/republic.html)

Zion could better be described as, for the movie, a place of sound and ideal community, a utopia. a sacred place only known by those human.
