Let's say we love our country so very much and suddenly there is a threat. All we ever knew was our country freedom love and peace and joy etc, so we wanted to go into the fight to defend our kingdom. So we go into this fight, then we get caught by the horrible tyrant and we are POW. So here we are bound in some shack somewhere and our king sends someone to look for you. This person finds you and tells you lets go! You're free! Follow me! But then you say, nah, look i'll be fine, i'm still alive, I can do this myself. I found my own way out. Then our king realizes that during this time the tyrant is causing too many lives to be destroyed so he has to nuke the land. Unfortunately you didn't listen to the messanger and you were still there in the tyrants land. So you suffer the nuke that was meant for the enemy. What about satanists who believe that their flesh is who they really are, or those who believe that because they've made it thru "on their own" despite struggle that they do not need GOD. It's all the same, God knew we were gonna be in this horrible place of famine, disease, wickedness so he gave us flesh. This lustful flesh works as a mask, so that although we're in this horrible land we can somehow tolerate it. It's like if you are pow at a foreign land and you are given a disguise that looks like the foreign people. If you look like the enemy the enemy won't torture you as bad, however you are still in a warzone. That is why when a "christian" says that their eyes are opened to all the wickedness, even somethin' as small as hp we can see all the evil behind it. not just as "oh it's harmless" but as we aren't longer subject to the flesh but are spiritual beings enlightened by God and made aware of the enemy and see all his tools.
