Subject: Defending Australian based "Jesus Christians"

Having read several pieces of literature by David McKay, and the scathing response to their activities posted on this site, I feel like they need a little bit of cover fire.

I am a bible based "sydney anglican" Christian, and apart from the times that McKay seems to put too fine a point on his particular interpretations of prophecy, I find that the general tone of the groups theology is one of sincerity.

You see, God has given us sooo much, and he wants everything from us. Look at the hard words of Jesus in Luke 18. This stuff is hard to accept, easy to put aside because we want our lives to be comfortable and affluent. But the "Jesus Christians" seem to be really saying that we should go out on a limb for our saviour and give everything in our lives to bringing his word to the world. That resonates with the whole bible.

Sure there are some minor problems with the way they express their theology, but I do not believe that the accent is on the "teachings of Jesus" at the expense of his very blood - the one can't be meaningful without the other.

People in my church have way too much money. I don't think I would be able to justify buying myself such expensive gifts - the hard words of jesus would keep me accounable. And about the death thing, well, are you seriously saying that you would NOT die to further the cause of Christ if it had to be? I try to consider the lives of everyone that surrounds me to be more important than my own, (though technically that's not true) and as far as I can tell the Spirit is making me more and more their servant. That's how it works man, that's how the kingdom grows! 1Thes2:8

Let's ease off the non-denominational groups a little - hey all protestants are in the same basket...
