I liked Ricky Gervais in his comedy 'The Office' so was greatly dissapointed in the way he was allowed to mock and ridicule the Bible in the way he did, in his recent 'Stand up Guy' show on channel 4 on Friday 27th August.

The section of the show in question was highly offensive to both Jews and Christians as Gervais mocked, ridiculed, and blasphemed the book of Genesis. Gervais read directly from the book of Genesis and stopped at places he saw fit to ridicule, blaspheme, and swear over. The packed crowd laughed, jeered, and mocked along with him.

He also spoke of Jesus in a way that was quite sacrilegious during the end of this "performance".

Everyone has the right to disagree with any holy text, and raise points for debate, whatever it may be, but to ridicule and blaspheme a book of Scripture as he did was well out of order.

Really, it was a very cowardly attack as well, as channel 4 know full well that if they allowed a comedian to say the same things that Gervais said of the Bible, and apply that to say the Koran, they would not get away with it.

Did anyone else see this show? What did you think? If you saw it and were offended why not write to channel 4 and complain? Why should they get away with it?
