Some Wiccans seem to define a binding spell as a curse.

I was reading this just yesterday in a book I got hold of called A-Z of Wicca by Gerina Dunwich. Under the entry for Curse, she writes:

"There are certain instances, however, when a special type of curse known as a "binding" is necessary and is almost always done to stop an evil or misguided individual from continuing to do harm (either magickally or by some other means) upon others." (p. 40).

Even though she defines a binding as a curse, I am sure other wiccans would disagree. However, you bring up an intersting point silverfox, and I must look into this. I will dig about to see how many others wiccans would define a binding as a curse or not.

Notice as well in the quote though that she doesn't qualify what merits a binding. The instances are vague and wide open to the individuals interpretion of when a person is to be bound.

Gotta go. Off to church.
