Thanks for the kind feedback Theresa. It is appreciated.

You are right Theresa that it does seem that many pagans have a sort of respect for Jesus. However, I think the reason why many reject the Bible as untrustworty and tampered with is because they are often unwilling to accept everything He said. For example, His words at John 14:6: "I am the way and the truth and the life" are uncomfortable to many pagans. It is therefore easier to claim that the Bible has been tampered with by the Church at this point. There is no real eveidence for this though. The Bible boasts the best manuscript evidence for any ancient work by far.

I suppose many people come to the Bible and rather than have the Bible shape their beliefs, they let their beliefs shape the Bible.

Interesting that you were a Catholic prior to coming into paganism. It seems that many pagans have come from RC backgrounds. There must be some reasons for this, and i think I need to do some research on it, as this comes up time and time again. As a Protestant Christian though, I would not accept the authority of the RC Church. Indeed, while there is some good in it, I think that it puts many people off God. I work with someone who used to be RC but is now a spiritualist medium. She seems to get annoyed when the subject of the Bible or Christianity comes up. I have tried to tell her though that Christianity is nothing much to do with the RC Church or any denomination for that matter really, but rather about a personal relationship with Jesus. It is Him and Him alone who saves, not a Church (as RC doctrine teaches).

We need more than just be good people to please God. Although being good is commendable, it is not enough to reach God's standards. We can't do it by ourselves though as the Bible says that even our righteous deeds are like filthy rags. They are tainted with many hidden motives. We are all siners (Rom. 3:23). The wages of sin is death, but the good news is that salvation is a gift from God in Christ (Rom 6:23). God swaps our sin for the righteousness of Christ when we trust in Him alone (2 Cor. 5:21).
