I heard a black bird calling
Through the long years falling
Shadows eastward crawling
As the sun set ever west.

Calling me to follow
His flight swifter than swallow
From noisy day, to quiet hollow
And slipping from this quest.

Follow him cross dark divide
Flight between worlds astride
To the place where now souls reside
In the lands that they find best
