The Floo Network is a 6th year Harry Potter RPG run on a series of message boards on a private server (no advertisements!) administered by a committee of six experienced RPGers/fanfic writers.

We currently have three "in character" boards, one for Hogwarts itself, one for the wizarding world (including Hogsmeade, the Ministry, St Mungo's and more) and one devoted to character development. The fourth board is our Out Of Character board and is where all the OOC chatter, discussions, announcements, etc are kept.

In the future, there will be a fifth board to house the Quidditch stadium, both the Hogwarts Quidditch Cup games and the British & Irish Quidditch League games. These will be actual games, turn-based, played by real teams of player characters. Very exciting, actually, and highly competitive.

While we are not an "adult game," we are billing ourselves as a "game for adults" even though those under eighteen are more than welcome to join. We're planning a fairly canonical game and are hoping to fill the cast list with creative people who can take the canon and run with it. We're very slash-positive but we also expect any "ships" to be reasonable given what we know from the canon and will nix any that we think are illogical or badly handled, be they slash OR het. We are trying to keep the focus of the game off relationships, however, we realize that banning relationships altogether is silly and so don't care who does what to whom so long as things don't interfere with the game and don't violate established canon too badly.

The game is going to be geared towards the schedules of busy adults, especially students. One "game day" will last seven calendar days and we will play three game days out of every week, starting on "September 1" and ending when we get to the end of "June". Given the length of the "school year" using this schedule, we are already planning ahead for player turnover, so please don't feel like you can't join because you can't commit to the full game.

We are in need of almost all of the canon characters, including Ron, Ginny, Hagrid, and Snape. We have already filled seven teacher positions (McGonagall, Hooch, Sinistra, Trelawney, Grubbly-Plank and the Muggle Studies and DADA positions) but still need all of the others.

Since all of our teachers are expected to actually teach their classes, prospective applicants for open teacher roles will preferably have some knowledge of the real-world counterpart of their discipline, if there is one, or be able to make things up that make sense if there isn't a real-world counterpart. For example, we're hoping to get a serious gardener or botanist for Sprout, a historian/pastfic writer to play Binns, someone who knows about herbal medicine or alchemy/chemistry for Snape, etc.

We are also in need of minor player characters, shopkeepers, Ministry workers of all levels, St Mungo's healers, parents, non-humans, and more.

Obviously, the game is very OC friendly, provided the OC fits in both Britain and the wizarding world (crossovers and transfer students are not being allowed.) You are welcome to play multiple characters, if you like, although we discourage playing multiple major canons. So, playing both Snape and Draco is out, but playing Snape and Blaise Zabini is fine.

For the time being, the application process is still "in the works" so there may be a bit of confusion on our parts until we've had a bit of practice with it. I hope anyone who applies will be understanding. This is a lot larger job than I ever thought it would be! If you apply for one of the "major canons" you can probably count on us having a lot of questions for you.
