all these theories -- see <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3076710/">http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3076710/</a> -- basically boil down to a need to carry something over distances, something so important to the species that the species was willing to sacrifice speed, escape routes, and dexterity. hhhmmmmm. . . . . i wonder what that could be. . . .
