That last post from Stevula has me sort of riled up . . .

You know what bothers me? Liberals. More importantly though, liberals who don't know what the hell they're talking about yet still insist on pushing their viewpoint on everyone around them.

I'm not proud of it, but recently I faced a cash shortage and had to accept a job I morally disagreed with. Fundraising for liberal causes. That's right, I was working phones for the Sierra Club, the DNC, DCCC, and more! Let me tell you something . . . this was some scary stuff I learned in my very brief stint with these organizations.

Mostly what I took from it all was that liberals, on average, do not have a clue. I tried talking sense to these people, giving them reasons they might want to contribute, but I could not make it work. A supervisor called me aside and gave me some pointers on what may work better: make fun of George W. Bush.

Seriously.

So I did, and you know something? It worked like a charm. Sierra Club members think George Bush is running around our U.S. forests with a torch in one hand and a dead baby seal in the other. DNC and DCCC contributors don't care one iota about issues, or candidate platforms - they only care that Bush loses. To who? Who cares.

It was actually sad to see that the people in charge of raising funds for these organizations were open and honest about the fact that they received better response by simply talking smack about the incumbent than actually trying to reach out to their supporters. And it was even more sad to see that their supporters took the bait . . .

Oh well - you can't be too surprised. They were liberals. The funny thing about it was that here was a company devoted to the liberal cause, and they were in a ramshackle building with no accomodation for the few handicap people who worked there, and they were vigorously fighting the threat of unionization amongst it's workers. I guess liberalism only works in coffee shops in the end.
