Good post.

Affirmative Action: I agree this is a positive program. It attacks the root cause of the social problem. I think it can be overdone, but by and large this is one of the few social programs that acutally works.

Gun Control: What are they doing in Florida that is so good?

Abortion: Again I agree. Abortion has become a hot button issue. A way for the political leadership and special interest groups that want nothing better than to lead as many Americans as they can around by their nose to divide and conquor . The fact is abortion isn't a new thing and the human body does it all the time. I agree that it is reprehensible for it to be used as a form of birth control, but if we weren't such a bunged up society a woman could go see her OB/GYN and have a pregnancy taken care of immediately without all the fuss and bother.

Reparations: Yup. The thing is reparations would simply turn into another cash grab, with the same folks coming out on top after the checks went out as it was before. The rent-to-own assholes and check cashing firms would have a field day.

Education: Hmmmm, tenure=bad? You're probably right.

Immigration: Tightening border security is probably a no-brainer. That's how 9/11 happened in the first place.

France: I like France. I hope to travel there one day. They've earned their bad rep, but I can't condemn people for speaking their mind. The only gripe I have with them is the way they've played middle eastern terrorism to their advantage all along. While it no doubt has served them well in not being a target for terrorists, I wonder about the long term viability of the stance? Their perspective seems a little short sighted to me.

International diplomacy: Bush isn't doing a bad job. I like the fact that he has Colin Powel running the show. Rumsfield leaves me wondering sometimes, but Bush has an eclectic mix in his cabinet. If only his domestic policy was so strong.

War on terrorism: Another bright spot in the Bush administration, for now. The long term prospects are still up in the air, but when Bush starts talking about taking action everybody shuts up and listens. This is a good thing.

Interracial dating: Me too. If I wasn't married there is a cute little black chick that I'd be bird dogging as we speak. She's the hottest thing I can remember in a long time. Too bad society got rid of the notion of multiple wives. I think I could handle it?

Australia's war on illiteracy: Grim should be the poster child for why this is necessary.

Drugs: Legalized pot would be cool. At least allow people to grow whatever the hell they want to grow on their own property for their own use/enjoyment. I've got a garden in my back yard right now that is going great guns. It boggles the mind when I consider how much grass I could grow! But what do you tell the kids? Right now they are too young to know anything, but when they get older growing grass wouldn't be a good idea. Still the basic premise is valid.

Television: I'm a PBS head. I watched Frontline last week about America's prisons and the fucked up shit that is happening with DNA evidence and the guys that are being exonerated by it. Pretty scary stuff.

U.S. Economy: IMO the one area where Bush is screwing the pooch. Tax cuts are all well and good, but unless it is a total approach (spending cuts too) we're just setting ourselves up for a fall. nobody want's to deal with the political fallout of cutting government expenditures so what is happening is that we'll amass huge debts ebcause no body wants to commit political suicide.

My dream domestic agenda would include a balanced budget amendment, term limits for all elected officials, and major campaign finace reform. We've got to remove all career politicians, get the money out of politics, and force the government to balance their books just like everyone else. Until this all happens don't expect any real positive changes in government.

AIDS: Capitalism needs to meet the Aids virus. It won't stand a chance.

Taxes: I like the use of exemptions and the like to foster growth, but the way things are now obviously need improving.

Church/State: Agreed. I say tax all churches. Too many of them play unethical games. I do think that contributions given by people should be tax deductable as charitable donations, but churches should have to pay taxes on gains just like everyone else. Maybe give them tax shelters for funds spent on cheritable endeavors to foster benevolence, but building water parks and bigger and better churches aren't helping anyone except for the church members.

Racism: Fuckin'a Bubba!

Lifestyle choices: Yup stay the hell out of my bedroom and I'l stay out of yours. Hipocrites like "Gay" Edgar Hoover and the like were all too willing to condemn their enemies for behaviors they endulged in themselves. Giving Bill Clinton a hard time about getting a blow job was bullshit. Getting him to deny it on TV was a stroke of genius, and for that Clinton should have been cashiered, but the act itself was nobody's damn business. Had Clinton stood up and said that he would have been right. Instead he chose to debate the meaning of "is". He never should have gotten away with such slimy lawyer talk. That's one thing I like about Bush. He's a straight shooter. He may not say much, but he means what he says. I like that. With Clinton you had to weight every possible meaning to the words he said. I don't like that.

9/11: Roger that. We all should remember the threats that day posed, both through physical danger and through economic danger. People need to realize that social disorder is always a heartbeat away and comport themselves accordingly. Spending money so the terrorists won't win is bullshit. Being pennywise is good sense. Making the right investments is something everyone should be keenly aware of.

Canada: It's too damn cold up there for my tastes, but otherwise it's a great place. Americans and Canadians alike need to realize that we've always had far more in common than we've every had differences.

Hunting: Hunters always have been the real conservationalists. The sooner environmentalist whack-o's figure that one out the better.
