Yeah right.

Actualy in the Old Testament (the Hebrew Talmud) the story goes as KSM outlines it, but there's a little more to it...

Pharaoh's soothsayers fortold the birth of Moses and that he was going to be the savior of the Jews (and one assumes Pharaoh's doom). So he did command that the first born son's of the Hebrews be put to the sword. Moses was delivered to salvation when his mother put him in a whicker basket and sent him off on the Nile river (thereby fulfilling several of the classic motifs in mythology). Later after God sent Moses to free his "chosen" people from bondage in Egpyt did He send the 10 plagues upon Epypt. Pharaoh refused to submit to God's will so Moses declared that Pharaoh himself would name the final plague. Pharaoh told Moses if he didn't go away he would put the first born Hebrews to the sword. And so being a God of his word God sent the Angel of Death to fulfill Pharaoh's sentence.

Excellent source material for this story can be found in Cecil B deMill's movie epic "The Ten Commandments". Here in the states they always show it on network TV on Easter Sunday (this sunday). You watch it and tell me who's glossing over the facts! Don't make me send Charlton Heston back to Egypt to part the Red Sea and open up a major can of whup ass again!
