I'll say! In my old house I was trying to clean up a bunch of old flower beds. It was a monumental job and I was having a hard time finding the time to get it all done. Since I was thinking about putting the place on the market (which I ended up doing) I wanted to get things cleaned up. I've got an old friend that has a yard care business and he let me use one of his Mexican guys to help out. He was a hard worker and got a lot done, but $8 an hour (cash) he wasn't cheap. He brought his kid to help and I had to pay him $4 an hour. A couple of saturdays at $100 a pop was too strong for me, besides that the guy told me he didn't feel like doing it. There are some things you just can't pay people to do! What's worse is that when you finlly do come off the cash and pay to have something done, you generally end up having to go back over it and do it yourself anyway.

Now I've got a 2 acre yard that is going to kill me to keep up. I did go out and buy a Craftsman lawn tractor (with a B&S 20HP V-twin) so I'm ready, but it's the landscaping that is going to be rough. I blew out the budget remodeling the house so now it's all up to me to get the yard up to snuff. And so are the days spent for an itinerate suburbanite...
