They had no reason to suppose that the U.S. would reveal their plans.

As usual, Israel chose to shoot first and ask questions later. They also felt they were sending a message to the U.S. government.

What do you call people who use gunboats to shoot unarmed sailors in lifeboats, people who are supposed to be your allies?

Regardless of circumstances or suppositions or risks Israel commited war crimes against an ally, violated treaties, and as usual ignored UN resolutions it has signed and agreed to.

Israel is not our friend or our ally, nor innocent. They do like our money however.

Israel has violated as many UN resolutions as Iraq has violated. While I do not support attacking Israel, I think giving them foreign aid to the tune of 10 billion dollars this year is unconscionable.
