A little. While Tolkien's books weren't meant as an allegory for anything, both his Christian background and current events heavily influenced his writings.

I don't think Lewis was nearly as influenced by current events, but at the same time, the chronicles of Narnia were written purposely as an allegory.

On a side note, one of these days I want to see the movie [i]Shadowlands[/i]. It is based on the life of Lewis and stars Anthony Hopkins. Meredith has seen it and tells me I need to see it as well.
