Flicking her ears back to catch the soft-spoken words, she snorted a reply and gathered herself to take on the next jump with a classy flare of midnight elegance. And on to the next- she moved with a powerful grace- up and over they went in perfect partnership. The mare had hit her stride and settled back into this business of showing. Adjusting her approach to take a clean jump, she lifted over the obstacle and came down straight and easy. Two more to go and thus would complete the mare's return to the show ring and her carriage took on a sense of blooded pride as she carried herself and her rider confidently forward and over the next. One more, one more, and up. And down. And out. Cantering on, the dark mare tossed her tail behind her in a private celebration of a return to the job she loved. Ribbon or not, the mare was pleased to simply be out and working.
