Sympathy to the family and friends of the following people who died recently that were part of Wisconsin pageantry throughout the last 70 years.

*We remember Ronald "RF" F. Hoerth, who died at age 88 on November 9, 2022 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. He ran the Miss Calumet county pageant (1970 to 1978) which sent winners to the Miss Wisconsin pageant in Oshkosh, including Miss Calumet County 1971, Jeanne Katherine Libke, better known to some as Jeanne Schmal, the now former executive director of the Miss Wisconsin pageant. The county pageant later became the Calumet County's Fairest of the Fair program which then sent winners to the annual Wisconsin's Fairest of the Fair state competition. He will be missed.

*George Armand Maranger, he was the general chairman of the Miss Racine pageant for several years in the 1960s when the Racine Jaycees (Junior Chamber of Commerce) organized that annual pageant which sent Miss Racine to the Miss Wisconsin pageant in Oshkosh. He died on November 17, 2022 at age 87:

*We shall remember Mary Ann Jarman Blahnik, who was Miss Independence 1957 and Miss Fish Creek 1959, which at that time advanced her to the Miss Wisconsin Universe competitions (now known as Miss Wisconsin-USA). Incidentally, during that time, the state pageants were staged in Fish Creek located in Door County. She died at 82 on December 30, 2022:

*Cynthia Anne Bostick Georgeson of Racine, Wisconsin was Miss Owensboro in 1970 when she used her vocal talent to be crowned as Miss Kentucky in 1970. She did not place or win any awards when she competed for Miss America in Atlantic City, N.J., which was won by Miss Texas, Phyllis Ann George. Cynthia relocated to Racine to have a career at the S.C. Johnson Company, and she followed the Miss Racine, Miss Wisconsin, and Miss America programs ever since. Cynthia Anne died at age 70 in Racine on January 24, 2023. Her February 3, 2023 memorial service was held at Preservation Hall, the location of several Miss Racine and Miss Wisconsin Sweeps pageants.

*Sad news came when former Alice in Dairyland 1956, Doris (Dorie) Arlene Olsen Nelson Underkofler, died at 87 in Scottsdale, Arizona on January 27, 2023. She was also Miss Green County and competed in the 1955 Miss Wisconsin pageant on July 30, 1955 in Reedsburg, Wisconsin:

*And remembering Debra "Debbie" Jean Hoeft of Oshkosh, a longtime Miss Wisconsin board member, who died at 65 on February 22, 2023. She was honored recently for her 50 years of service to the state organization. Her and Jeanne Schmal’s 50-year milestone tribute included their portrait in the 2022 Miss Wisconsin program book (page 108). A funeral service for Debbie will be held at the Westside Konrad-Behlman funeral home, 100 Lakepoint Drive, in Oshkosh at 1:00 pm on Sunday, March 5, 2023, which is the day after the 2023 Miss Oshkosh pageant, an event she rarely missed over the years.
