Subject: In Memory of Roger

Belated message of condolences to the family of Roger L. Streich of Janesville, Wisconsin, who died at home on Monday, September 20, 2021 at age 85.

Roger was one of the board members which operated the annual Miss Janesville pageant from 1967 to 1976, and was also a past Miss Wisconsin pageant state field director for 16 years retiring in 1990.

During his time as state field director for the south central Wisconsin area, Roger oversaw the pageants in Janesville, Beloit, Lake Geneva, Madison, Monroe, Portage, Rock County, Sun Prairie, and Watertown.

He and his wife, Fern of 63 years, enjoyed attending and judging pageants, and following the lives of many of the pageant contestants who were from Janesville or held titles when Roger and Fern were involved with the pageant program.

Roger's last public appearance regarding pageants was attending the grand opening of 50th year anniversary of Cindy Ann Morgan's selection as Miss Wisconsin 1969 (who was also Miss Janesville 1969), when the Rock County Historical Society in Janesville honored Cindy's anniversary with a museum display of her gowns, photographs and other items, held September 26, 2019 to October 25, 2019.

Interesting he died exactly a month ago today on Sept. 20th and he had all these local -- pageants and none are around today except for Miss Beloit., 19:05:21 10/20/21 Wed

He was the field director when my sister competed at Miss Wisconsin and was the first to warn her/us -- the girls over 21 had better chances at state, it was true, 00:14:48 10/22/21 Fri
- When was that? It was the same then as it surely is now---rare for a "girl" at 17 or 18 to do well -- at state much less at Miss America against the older gals, 13:18:12 10/23/21 Sat
