I would hardly call the Miss Madison competition one of the biggest and most successful in the state. Yes, it is true that they had a lot of winners go on to win Miss Wisconsin when Joe and Ron were in charge, but I think that had a lot to do with seasoned contestants that entered their program who were well-prepared not only for their competition but to compete at Miss Wisconsin: Kristina Smaby, Raeanna Johnson, and Paula Kuiper all come to mind. The scholarships they offer have always been minimal compared to other locals like La Crosse, Kenosha, Oshkosh and WI Rapids. One would think with all the money and businesses in the Madison area, these amounts would be bigger.
