On this day in Wisconsin pageant history, only one woman was selected as Miss Wisconsin on Saturday, June 30:

1962---Miss La Crosse, Joan Mary Engh of La Crosse was named Miss Wisconsin 1962

(Joan's local title then was Miss La Crosse, a few years before they merged Miss La Crosse and the Miss Oktoberfest titles to become Miss La Crosse/Oktoberfest in the mid-1960s. Prior to being named Miss La Crosse 1962, Joan was Wisconsin's Alice in Dairyland of 1960. This year is her 60th year anniversary of being named Miss Wisconsin 1962.)
