Condolences to the family of Marlene Ann Watermolen Allen, who passed away last week at age 90 on September 6, 2022.

Marlene was Miss Green Bay 1951 and was later named first runner-up in the 1951 Miss Wisconsin pageant held at the Eagles Club's ballroom in Milwaukee on June 1, 1951. The winner was Miss Marshfield, Sheila Marie Murphy, 18, who presented a monologue for talent. Miss Milwaukee, Janice Ann Thompson was the state second runner-up.

Here is a brief video clip from the 1951 state pageant (held on June 1, 1951, not June 6, 1951 as they mistakingly noted on this video), where Marlene is briefly seen among the other five pageant finalists in Milwaukee:

Sadly, Marlene is the second former Miss Green Bay to pass away this year, after Miss Green Bay (and Miss Wisconsin) 1949, Phyllis Ann Kessler Lynn Sacho died at 90 on March 7, 2022.

Marlene's obituary and lovely photo can be seen at these two online posted obituaries, which accidentally list her as being the state runner-up in the 1952 Miss Wisconsin pageant:

It would not have been possible for Marlene to be the Miss Wisconsin first runner-up in 1952, as there were complications with pageant sponsors, thus no state pageant was held that year to send a winner to Miss Wisconsin.

For more details on why that would not be possible for Marlene to the 1952 state first runner-up, see this August 9, 202 posted message here to provide more background history:

An interesting note, two Wisconsin women competed for Miss America in 1951--Miss Wisconsin, Sheila Marie Murphy, and Miss Minnesota, Kathryn Rose Clark, a native of La Crosse, Wis., who was a student the MacPhail School of Music in Minneapolis, Minn. for three years at the time of her state victory. Neither placed or won special awards at the 1951 Miss America pageant, won by Miss Utah, Colleen Kay Hutchins.
