Today, Wednesday, May 14, 2025 is the funeral service for George Peter George, who died at age 90 on May 1, 2025.

George was the longtime executive director of the Miss St. Francis Scholarship pageant and later he served as the Miss Wisconsin state field director (2000--2010) for the Milwaukee area. He was succeeded by former Miss St. Francis 1985, and Miss Wisconsin 1985, Mary Kay Anderson Gronik.

His death came just a week before his beloved wife's birthday. Sadly, George and Phyllis Ann (Puchalla) George lost their daughter Mary Ellen George Knuth (Miss St. Francis 1982) on November 3, 2024 after a lingering cancer illness at age 60. Mary Ellen's daughter, Kayla Knuth, was Miss St. Francis in 2017. George's funeral today is at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1720 East Norwich Street, in Milwaukee.

Coincidentally, Miss St. Francis 1985, Doreen Rene Zynda's father passed away two days before George died.

Rhody Frank Zynda of St. Francis passed away on April 29, 2025 after a battle with vascular dementia at age 89. His daughter Doreen Rene Zynda assumed the Miss St. Francis title in June 1985 after Mary Kay Anderson became Miss Wisconsin 1985.

Sympathy to his wife Michele, daughter Doreen Zynda Borowski of Nekoosa, and the Zynda family.

George was a great guy and very loyal to the pageant program and -- surely the St. Francis community. Did you read the obit?, 18:45:21 05/16/25 Fri
