May 29, 2025 is also the sad one-year anniversary of the passing of a noted former Miss Milwaukee titleholder.

It was one year ago today when Miss Milwaukee 1981, Lora Rene Davis Green died at 63 on May 29, 2024. The cause of death was due to complications with leukemia.

Lora (known to many as Lori) was a 1978 Mukwonago High School graduate who later earned her bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1985.

When Miss Milwaukee 1981, Keungsuk Kim of Shorewood, Wisconsin became Miss Wisconsin, Lora graciously assumed the Miss Milwaukee title and became the first black woman to serve as Miss Milwaukee. A skilled clarinet player, Lora went on to be the mother of two sons, and had a distinguished career as a Mary Kay independent sales director in the Cincinnati and West Chester Township, Ohio area. We remember Lora Davis Green.
