Libby Nowak and Elizabeth Zengara both had exceptional talents, and Libby was a preliminary talent winner, so when it got down to the final six (they called out the runners-up and winner from the top 10 back then) I was sure that Libby had won. Her sister, Julie Nowak was Miss West Allis and Miss Wisconsin 1976.
Another interesting note about that year: Brenda Thielke, Miss Waukesha County is none other than Brenda Baudo, the current director of MWOT. Brenda failed to make the top 10 and her talent was a dance/twirl routine.

Wendy Wagner did not out of nowhere.....she was from Des Plaines, Illinois. -- She just moved to Menomonie to attend UW-Stout, 11:32:03 04/10/20 Fri
- Wendy Wagner was a darkhorse.. She won no preliminary awards and was not a standout -- in the final night competition.., 12:45:12 04/10/20 Fri
The Pageants Historian once said in an email when asked that Elizabeth Zengara competed in Arizona -- and she said Libby resigned Miss WA soon after state, 11:34:21 04/10/20 Fri
