The Miss Sparta Scholarship Organization is aware of the issues and concerns surrounding the current Corona-virus (COVID-19) situation. As with most businesses and organizations across the state and country, we have kept current with the information available and how it effects our planning for the 2020 pageant events we are responsible for.

The information received in the last few days has guided our decision to cancel the 2020 Miss Sparta Scholarship Program scheduled for Saturday, June 5, 2020 at Sparta High School. As painful as this is for all of us, we understand that it is in the best interest of the program to do so.

There are many factors to consider when planning an event of this magnitude. There are many moving pieces and many people involved that allows for a great program to happen. Some might ask why we can’t reschedule.

This is a great question and one we did consider, but the simple answer is that we don’t know when that could happen. There will be no 2020 Royalty inn Sparta this year and that includes a Festmaster, Lady Butterfest, Miss Sparta, Miss Sparta’s Outstanding Teen, and a Jr. Miss Sparta.

In times like this, we are forced to re-evaluate how things have always been done, and we are excited about the positive updates that will come out of allowing us the chance to grow and develop the program to a new level.

We have quickly put together an interest form that is located on the Miss Sparta website. We ask that you fill it out if you were interested this year or next year. This will allow us to have contact information for future candidates and update them on items as we are able.

For our existing royalty, we know this is not how their year was supposed to end. We are planning a send-off party in August that will allow Hannah, Alexis, and Ella to say their farewells and prepare them for their journey to the state competition. Please watch as more information will be available soon!

Again, we thank you for your patience and understanding as we announce this difficult decision.
