Subject: Miss Onalaska gone forever??

Well, in case anyone has not noticed, this weekend would have been the 2019-2020 Miss Onalaska and Miss Onalaska's Outstanding Teen pageant, a program traditionally held in mid-August.

However, thanks to lazy Miranda Rosenthal Schmidt (Miss Coulee Region 2009 and Miss Onalaska 2012), there was no pageant this month to send two winners to the state competitions in Oshkosh in June 2020. Instead, what we got back on March 23, 2019 was this posted notice on the pageant's Facebook page:

"....Are you interested in mentoring young women in the Onalaska and West Salem communities? Are you looking to give back your time through volunteering and helping to provide scholarship assistance to our community’s young women? Want to sharpen your Leadership Skills by leading an incredible organization? Please email us now to learn more about how you can become the next Director of the Miss Onalaska Organization! For more information visit www.MissOnalaska.com or email MissOnalaska@gmail.com..."

So, Miranda and her helpers from last year, had exactly five months to get a replacement who appreciates the 41-year-old Miss Onalaska program and willing to work to get scholarships, contestants, and an established location for the competition.

But at least if it all ends they finished out the pageant program in 2019 with a state pageant first runner-up in Maddie Adickes (who is now headed to the 2019 Miss National Sweetheart pageant in two weeks), and a state teen winner in Savannah Horstman, who is actually from Holmen.

Let them be the last two Onalaska title winners to cap it all off, but that leaves Miss La Crosse/Oktoberfest and Miss Sparta as the only local pageant programs in the entire western region of Wisconsin.

Now, where oh where is Dan Hauser when his hometown of Onalaska really needs him??
