Subject: Is it "fair"--winning crowns and talent shows??

For those who missed it, two contestants from the 2019 Miss Wisconsin's Outstanding Teen pageant competed in Sunday's talent show during the 11th and final day of the 2019 Wisconsin State Fair in West Allis.

Winning the "Teen" talent prize of $4,000.00 was Abigail Peterson who represented the Washington County Fair. She played Frederic Chopin's famed Etude C-Sharp Minor, which can be heard here:

Placing first runner-up and winning a $2,000.00 cash award was classical vocalist Kaylee Dougherty, representing Marquette County Fair, who sang "Nessun Dorma" from Giacomo Puccini's opera Turandot, which was also sung by grade-schooler Emanne Beasha earlier this year on America's Got Talent:

Awarded third place yesterday was the reigning Miss Fox River Valley's Outstanding Teen 2019, Liberty Pauline Mugerauer of Oshkosh, who performed a baton twirling routine to "Hallelujah" and won a $1,000.00 cash award. Liberty, who represented the Wisconsin Valley regional fair in Wausau, was third runner-up to 2019 Miss Wisconsin's Outstanding Teen, Savannah Horstman on June 14. She won the Wisconsin Valley talent contest on July 30.

Among the 19 entrants in the "Teen" division of the State Fair talent show was the current Miss Fond du Lac's Outstanding Teen 2019, Kiana Schraufnagel who represented her native Fond du Lac County Fair. She won the county talent show on July 20. Kiana performed the same baton routine, "Faith" by Stevie Wonder and Ariana Grande, that she used at the state teen pageant in June but did not place or win any special awards at the talent contest this past weekend.

Winning the $250.00 special "Supreme" award as the judges and audience's "fan favorite" was Kewaunee County Fair's entrant, Jada Teska who played guitar and sang "Monday Morning Blues."

A surprise to many, last year's contestant and one of the American Idol participant this year, Francesca (Franki) Jo Moscato of Oshkosh, who played the keyboard and sang "Too Close", did not win anything in Sunday's talent show at the state fair. She was one of the contestants to make it to the "Hollywood" rounds of this year's American Idol competition but failed to place among the top twenty.

After five years of existence of the annual Wisconsin State Fair talent show, it seems the teenage pageant girls of the Miss Wisconsin's Outstanding Teen program have finally found out about the state fair talent show and its twenty participating county or regional fairs which sends winners to the Wisconsin State Fair in August. What took them so long??
