Subject: Congratulations to Haylee and Jessica

It was a year ago when former Miss Racine and Miss Burlington Area, Haylee Bande represented Wisconsin in the 2017 Miss National Sweetheart pageant in Hoopeston, Illinois and not only placed in the top ten but she also won the Ronnie Reed Service Award for her work with military families and housing issues for the veterans.

Yesterday was the 2018 Miss National Sweetheart pageant. Former Miss Northern Lights and Miss Seven Rivers, Jessica Susan Hammer also made the top ten finalists, and won the 2018 Ronnie Reed Service Award for her work promoting her platform of "GEMS-Girls Empowered and Motivated to Serve".

Additionally, Jessica made Wisconsin proud by being one of the preliminary swimsuit winners days before the 2018 national finals, and by not wearing sloppy faded-out blue jeans with holes in them (and here she was down in the rural cornfield town of Hoopeston and she still dressed like a queen).

The winner last night in Hoopeston was Charlotte, North Carolina native Kaitryana Michelle Leinbach, a junior biology student at Louisiana State University, who was the entrant from Louisiana and becomes the second women from that state to win the Miss National Sweetheart title. The four runners-up represented California, New York, Oregon, and fourth runner-up was Kentucky.

Congratulations to Haylee and Jessica. If you can't win in Oshkosh, then go to Hoopseton and compete in a national pageant to earn accolades.
