I certainly understand your point about forgiveness, and had it been strictly a substance abuse problem,it might be a different story. But she was in jail for SELLING drugs, not just using them. I truly do hope that she has turned her life around, and that she has become a stronger, healthier woman because of it. But how can she be an effective role model to children? These children could have been people she had tried selling drugs to a few years before. That may not be true, but it is certainly a possibility. What makes a good role model is not someone who turns to drugs to fight their demons, it is someone who looks to their inner strength to fight them. That inner strength comes from many sources, God, parents, self-esteem, you only have to choose what works for you. Unfortunately, Misty turned to drugs, and with that comes consequences. I don't mean to say that a Miss AZ should not have had any difficulty in her life. But the way that you handle those difficulties shows your true character. Misty should use her experience to help others to avoid her example. Miss AZ should be someone who uses her life as an example of HOW to live your life, not the other way around. Misty certainly should be able to live her life with a fresh start. But in my opinion, pageants, because of the bad choices she has made in the past, should not be a part of her future.
