Hi Chris,

I also looked at the 1930 census that you mentioned and it would sure seem that this John Gill is the widower of Martha Jane Seevers and the father of Harvey Gill.

A couple of reasons that I think this:

John Gill's wife Martha died in 1923. On her death certificate her husband was the informant and his address is listed as Cumberland, Ohio. You mentioned that "according to family story married John Gill from Cumberland OH"

Obviously John and Martha had a son named Harvey and John was living with him and his wife Mabel in 1930 as was Mabel's mother, and John's new wife Nettie.

On that census mentioned it says that John Gill's first marriage was at the age of 26. This would make his first marriage in about 1879. This is close enough to the 1877 marriage of John and Martha Seevers.

On Ancestry.com I found a death date for a Mabel Gill in Zanesville, Ohio on March 20th, 1958. I will try and get her obituary and see if it has any clues.

As far as Mabel's first husband John Seevers goes, I am sure that he is related to my Seevers, but am unsure how. As soon as I find out I will let you know.

Are you descended from Mabel?
