Subject: Virus Information

Hello! Please be careful. There are some new viruses out now. I am only discussing 2. Please try to safeguard yourself & others immediately. Please always make sure your antivirus program is up-to-date(hopefully you have antivirus protection).

(1) Go to MICROSOFT WINDOWS UPDATE on your computer. Run the scan & your computer will check for critical updates that you need. There is a segment at Microsoft Windows Update discussing what Window versions need protected from the BLASTER WORM. Check back at Microsoft Windows Update frequently for updates.

(2) The virus, W32/Sobig, is a HIGH RISK WORM for home users. The virus is sent through emails. Once you get the virus, the virus will automatically email virused emails out to any email addresses that you have saved in your email address book. Please delete all addresses in your address book(make sure you have a list of your email addresses before deletion). If you get an email,then please use commonsense determining if you should open it. REMEMBER, the email can either be from a stranger or even from someone you know.

OUTGOING EMAIL MESSAGES ARE CONSTRUCTED AS FOLLOWS:

SUBJECT: Your details, Thank you!, Re: Thank you!, Re: Details, Re: Re: My details, Re: Approved, Re: Your application, Re: Wicked screensaver, Re: That movie .

ATTACHMENT: your_document.pif, document_all.pif, thank_you.pif, your_details.pif, details.pif, document_9446.pif, application.pif, wicked_scr.scr, movie0045.pif .

BODY: See the attached file for details, Please see the attached file for details .

FROM: Address may be spoofed with an address extracted from the victim machine. Therefore the perceived sender is most likely not a pointer to the infected user.

PLEASE BE CAREFUL!!!!!!! I just ran a virus scan on my computer so I am safe right now. I am getting these emails sent to me & not opening them so that means someone I know has the virus & is unintentionally sending corrupt emails to me. I know others who are getting these emails too. Keep running virus scans and checking for updates!!!

Also, if you email a friend on purpose, then please put your name or some identifying characteristic in the SUBJECT so your friend knows the email you sent to him/her was purposely sent by you.
