He debated with himself about whether or not she should ask what he was about to ask but decided to ask in the end.

The question was short and he decided to take this subject one question at a time. If she chose to remain in the pasture and away from Bacardi, he would accept that and if she chose to come with him to his home, she would be free to come and go as she pleased. That was how Bacardi liked to have things. He owned no one and never would.
