Our pleasure Dan.

"Ready" is currently out of print but copies may be seen on occasion on eBay and also the Advance Book exchange (abebooks.com). Bill Carpenter is mentioned in this book at least five or six times.

I am currently in the process of putting together a cross index of names of members of the 505th PCT of WW II based on Bob Gillette's work. Bob was with Regimental S-2 (inteligence) and is a member of the 82nd Airborne Division and 505th PIR Associations. He stopped compiling information in the 90's and has left the work for others to take up.

This list is by no means complete and is in need of updating

Right now I am working on the roster of names for Company H.

My idea is to publish the cross index on our website to aid those looking for basic information in researching veterans of the 505th.

You might have noticed that several of the pages on that site have a link to a page on Veteran's Profiles and Research Tips. This page is currently under construction and will consist of a both master index to those profiles and a concise "how to" for getting started in researching a particular veteran of the 505th PCT.

We are in need of information for these profiles, photographs, newspaper articles, documents, images of memorabilia specific to the veteran in question, short biographical information, etc., for these profiles.

I made and offer to post such a profile on Major Carpenter and that offer still stands.

We would be more than happy to work with you on this if you are interested. you would of course retain any copyright on unpublished non public domain images. etc.

Let us know.

At any rate I do have contact information for Avadanian and Piper. out of respect for their privacy I will not post it here but am willing to share it with you privately.

please contact me at bessel@europa.com.

By the way; There is a book out on Piper by Michel De Trez; The Way We Were: Col. Robert M. Piper "Bob" : Headquarters Company, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division !

Thanks so much. We are happy we could be of at least some meager help to you in your search for information.

Sam Kimpton
