Subject: 505th Company C

Need Help!... My wifes cousin, Walter Faranfontoff 39572172, was a member of the 505th. He was a Private in Company C and was KIA in Plasmolen, Holland 9/24/44.
We are in the process of puting together a family military history and need help in determining what ribbons/medals/honors Walter would have qualified to receive been recommended for.
We do know that he has a Purple Heart but that is all.
Our attempts in getting his military records have been hampered because of the fire where they were stored destroyed them. And yes, we did apply with the 180.
It have been suggested that maybe someone may be in the same position as we are in and may know what other family members were awarded under the same circumstances.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
