Subject: Want to find out about W.C. Brooks of the 505 PIR

I am attempting to find out all I can about my grandpa, who fought with the 505 during WWII. He was with the 505 at it's beginning and made all combat jumps with the regiment. He was sent home before entering Germany, I do know that he was awarded three bronze stars and two purple hearts. I do not know which company, etc. he was in, just that he was in the 505 PIR. I appreciate any information that anyone can provide, including a regimental role. Much of his records were lost in the fire back in the 70's, so the VA doesn't have a lot about him either.
