Subject: 82nd AB Canteen Cup

A few years ago I picked up a canteen cup at a flea market that a veteran had carved his name into, and the places he was at in North Africa. I believe he was in the 82nd because of the date of landing (May 10, 1943 in Casablanca) matches the divison history. The man's name was William F. George, and his address carved on the cup is for Birmingham,ALA.
I am very curious as to which regiment he was in, and what happend to him. The places end with a city (Sousse), near the airfield where they trained before Operation Huskey. So he might have been wounded on Sicily and sent home. The cup itself is dated 1918, and since many early war units were issued left over WW1 items this makes sense too. Thanks for any help!

Tyler
