Subject: Chaplain George Wood/505th Ludwigslust, Germany

I am a teacher who is researching the 82nd Airborne's presence in Ludwigslust County in northeast Germany during May-June,1945. The 82nd liberated the concentration camp in Wobbelin and victims were buried in Ludwigslust, Schwerin and Hagenow. In particular, I am trying to track down any family members of Reverend George Wood, an army chaplain who was one of three clergymen who spoke at the service in Ludwigslust around May 8 when the burial took place. Wood belonged to the 505th, jumped into France and followed the 82nd across to Ludwigslust. Wood helped to edit the book, _Ready! A History of the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment_ by Allen Langdon (1986). If you would like to know more about my research and what I am doing concerning the 82nd Airborne and their presence in Ludwigslust, please email me.
I am attending the 60th anniversary celebration there on May 2-3, 2005. Even if you are the son or daughter of a member of the 82nd/505th who liberated Wobbelin, I would like to hear from you.

Sincerely,
Jim Goodspeed
