"My Aunt Gwace?" She called tentatively into the forest, before cautiously following the chestnut Arab's trail.

She strided carelessly passed the spooky trees and fallen logs. She hopped about on the dried leaves, cracking them and small twigs beneath her tiny flint-hooves. She continued on until she saw something that truely was horrifying.

Staring out at her with small eyes was a green, slimey, toad. What it was doing so far away from water could not be told, but there it was. The pale filly's nostrils flared, her head shot up, ears straining until she heard a loud RIBBIT! come from the toad. She took a step back involuntarily. Her short bushy tail was tucked tight to her backside, and her moonkissed form trembled. The toad ribbit-ed again, and hopped into a shadow. She could still hear the ribbit-ing in the shadows, and she looked around listlessly for the toad. Where did it go? Where was it hiding? Was it going to attack?

She lowered her head bravely, sniffing into the shadows which smelled distinctly of a very stangnant swamp. The toad was there, but she didn't put two and two together. Suddenly the toad jumped out in front of her face, his long green legs propelling him straight in front of the filly.

With a shriek of terror she lunged into an unbalanced rear. "MY AUNT GWACE! IT'S GONNA GET ME!" she screamed, thrashing her hooves around in the air.

She spins on a dime, thanking God for the soft (now torn) moss beneath her bare hooves. Forward she leaps, her whole being intent on saving the filly from whatever horrible fate might await her. Her tail lifts and streams like a battle flag behind her. She tucks her sharp ears down so as to avoid branches.

Reaching the filly, the mare skids to a stop, “Y-y-yes, Maleah?” She pants, “W-hat what is it?” A branch snaps beneath an innocent squirrel, and Carinosa stands up straight, completely alert. “What’s out there?”
