Diffident, she schooled her wide eyes on a distant thicket, afraid of what undercurrents they would communicate. "Listen, I need to talk to you. I suppose things can wait until after the Snow Ball -- which, by the way, I hope I'll see you at -- but I'd like to have this discussion sooner rather than later." She chewed her lip roughly, partly out of habit and partly because of the profound anxiety that chilled her veins like fingers of ice.

If he had two arms, he surely would have wrapped them around her and envelope in her loving comfort. As it is, handicapped and so forth, he can only rest his muzzle gently on her neck, and then step back to watch her. "What is it, Cirrus?"

She hesitated visibly. "Weeell, maybe I should wait until after the Snow Ball...I don't want to potentially destroy the makings of a perfectly nice evening." A weak smile clung to the increasingly deteriorating mask of comfort she wore.

"Unless I am mistaken, lady love," he said without a hint of a smile, his gaze directing towards first sweet Maleah, and then renegade Pysche, "those two are only one symbol of an attachment we claim to have. Another, I believe, is the ability to know that if one needs to talk, the other will listen... Tell me, Cirrus. At least you can ruin the evening directly and not indirectly as you would by withholding the words you need to say." His eyes came to rest upon the unicorn, noticing quickly how easily her thoughts wore away at her peace. "And say it quick before I lose my patience-" now a slight smile came forth, warm enough to be thought genuine. "If I do, we might just find out if I still possess the power of weather."

Now genuinely uncomfortable, Cirrus traced fat circles in the frozen ground with her midnight eyes. When she looked up her expression was pleading.

"Well, I was tottering around at the join board spouting my usual Welcome Wagon propaganda when I came across a pegasus mare who, I must admit, seemed a bit out of place. I was going to tell her to go try knocking on the Mythicals' door when I suddenly realized the utter hypocrisy of the entire situation."

"I can't do that, Malussinn...I can't go be a Mythical now. Not now -- I love you. And we have a family. And I'd die before leaving. But think about how strange it must have been before Ziraga won that stupid challenge for the Queen of the Evil Horses to be a unicorn?"

"I've just been thinking about this whole problem lately and it's been really bothering me. And I don't know why, because it's not something I ever worried about, or even considered, in the past."

"Cirrus, you will never have to worry and tend to the fact that you are a mythical as well. All of the Evils are forever loyal to Malussinn and you, only. Unless it's those who wish to rule beside Ziraga's side."

"Evil's right. And even if you're ever carted off to the mythical section - be sure that I'll be right behind you all the way." For a thoughtful moment he was silent, watching her closely. "Besides that, you have two daughters here who are half horse, and a mate who's horse - or at least, last time I checked - so I don't see why anyone would want you to move to the mythical section.

"Also, hello, Evil."

"All right, all right. I don't want to pursue the matter right now; in fact, what I really want to do is dance. Let's go to the Snow Ball."

"You're going, aren't you, Evil?"

He laughed happily, nuzzling her neck tenderly. "All right. Why don't we bring the girls? We can leave them in the section assigned for the children.

"Oh, yes. Weren't you going to ask that mare... one of your herd?" The father narrowed his eyes with irritation. "What was her name again?"

"We're not going." He pivots, and as he turns to leave, he calls back with a talcum tone. "Have fun."
