Hey! Voy doesn't just hate the Red Board--it hates the Blue Board, too. It is still hard to believe there is no more Buffy or Angel and now there is no more Jericho, Shark, or MOONLIGHT!!! Ok, I am absolutely depressed. I am having my own pity party for the rest of the night. Sleep tight, everyone.

[> [> I'm somewhat annoyed by Shark's cancellation... -- anyasbuttmonkey, 11:33:55 05/24/08 Sat [1] (80.7.61.205)

Mystified by Moonlight's, but accepting of Jericho's. It ended on a nice note, and once the ratings for the season 2 premiere came in I knew there wouldn't be a third season. Still, I think CBS may come to regret cancelling Moonlight, I can see why they think Ghost Whisperer fans will like that new show Ex List, but it won't last long if it's just her finding an ex-boyfriend, dating them again only to realise they're not "the one" every week. At least Moonlight had Jason Dohring :)

[> I knew I wasn't as old as I thought I was. -- ProfoundlyStupid, 23:42:53 05/24/08 Sat [1] (99.240.68.180)

I came back a couple of weeks ago after a really long absence to see what was happening with the old boards. Kinda tame. But then a few days ago it looked like there was going to be a big ol' cat fight on the blue board. So I come back today to check up on that and whoa! A whole bunch of serious threads. A blast from the past, as people who use clichés would say (and since I never use clichés, I actually didn't write that).

The DSN was really lively as was the Good Morning thread. There were so many interesting threads. I'd forgotten how much fun it was reading the ones started by Ramses and Chani, especially the ones where the responses headed off-topic and ended up with seasons, characters, and JW trashed. (Ah, good times.) Excellent snark from Eurydice. One-off posts from silveragent, who so rarely engaged in a conversation with other posters that I can say he "never" did. Sparkle occasionally delurked which was always fun to see. I'm reading posts from a now-banned poster: it's like seeing someone rise from the grave. There were truly epic battles between RJA, Kashmanik and Christian - truly! Chani's metaphors made my head spin - in a delightful way, of course.

I get to relive those times for a while before voy resets. But, unfortunately, it *will* reset and then it'll all be gone again and I'll be three years older again. (sniff. so sad. wiping away a tear.)

[> [> No! Never! No re-reset! -- anyasbuttmonkey *wants to live here again*, 09:39:06 05/25/08 Sun [1] (80.7.61.205)

If we all think *really* hard, we can make it stick! Honest!

By the way... who was banned?! I missed salacious board gossip?!

I think it was Rosie. SHe used to pick fights over practically everything.

I'm getting so nostalgic for some of those threads - especially the one about how Buffy's super-sexiness ruined Spike's ability to spell.

Dogma's "Anya-like thought" - also, the thread a bit above it on "What did the Turak-hans eat in the Hellmouth?" I think those topics have potential for much more discussion. ;-)

What wacky scholars we were back in the day. Except, now I really can't stop wondering what the Turok-Han *did* eat down in the Hellmouth?! Joss, we demand answers! Except, maybe you can give us one that makes sense this time - I mean, really, cookie dough?!

Then I realised it was old times. I was in my 'I am so upset the show isn't on anymore that I can't bear to discuss it' phase - so no me in 2005. I was there before and after though.

I wish the board was still this lively - but such is life!

We could go after the ones who wrote the season finale of Bones. First Evil comes off as pure genius compared to that.

I actually liked the season finale of Bones :)

I think if they hadn't been cut short by the strike, they would've been able to get into Zach's PTSD storyline, which is my little wank to make it aaalllll make sense :D

[ Edit | View ]

[> [> [> Well.... -- Eurydice (donning the Kevlar), 09:59:09 05/26/08 Mon [1] (63.22.195.212)

I liked it, too. But then, I don't expect anything about this show to be realistic or to make sense. I always expect the logic behind a serial killer story to be, "Because he's nuts," so I don't let my brain hurt over things like dentures entirely made of canine teeth drawn from the skeletons of blady-blah-blah. Did the canniblistic serial killer replace his own teeth with the dentures? Never mind, forget I asked.

To me, all those forensic procedural shows are like creepy fairy tales, or maybe like the Whedonverse - with a little band of beautiful, sexy, supernatural experts fighting a world filled with icky, crazy monsters. If they wanted to do realism, they should try CSI: Boston - with crime lab that's got a 20 year backlog of DNA tests and a coroner's office which buries John Does two to a grave.

Zach's PSTD maybe could sorta work, except it's hard to see how he could be recruited as the serial killer's acolyte in such a short period of time. Zach is so methodical and needs so much nit-picky proof before he'll admit to anything - I could see the PSTD triggering such an obsessive compulsive loop that Googly-moogly would have slain him out of pure frustration.

[> [> [> [> You never know... -- anyasbuttmonkey, 10:15:57 05/26/08 Mon [1] (80.7.61.205)

CBS hasn't had much luck launching new dramas since "Criminal Minds" (although I didn't think Shark and Moonlight did that badly), you never know when they'll dip into the CSI well again - they'll need something to make it different to the other three, so why not some gritty realism of the police procedure? I'll take that over Caruso any day!

As for Bones, the problem with psychological storylines is that as nothing can be set in stone with regards to the brain, it's an easy way out because you can't argue definitively against it. I'm perfectly fine just going with PTSD and moving on ;) Besides, as harsh as this may sound I don't have high expectations when it comes to Bones - I mean, if they tried this on BSG I'd probably throw the biggest bitch-fit this side of Alec Baldwin's voicemail (hey-oh!) :D

Kind of fun to see Voy's technical glitch kickin' the C&S back to '05. How you been, ABM?

Funnily enough, I'm right back in the same situation I was in 2005 - living back home, except this time I'm jobless :D The job hunt isn't going fantastically well but I'm sure something will come up!

It's funny reading all the old posts and remembering all the posters that have come and gone - I didn't think it was possible, but I feel *old* now!
