Subject: to be fair, English spelling back in William's time was much different
In reply to: Ramses 2 's message, "Silly question time" on 10:07:13 08/05/05 Fri

seems unlikely that, as a vamp, he'd bother to keep up with current spelling trends. I bet he still uses "ye olde."

I don't think that comment was half as much about Buffy's sexual enthusiasm for variety so much as Spike's lack of book smarts.

I can just see him doing a crosseord puzzle now. "hey, hon, does "dirty sanchez" end in a "z" or an "s"?"

okay, speaking of lack of book smarts, I used that example without actually knowing what a "dirty sanchez" was. I just googled it and, ewwwww.

sorry 'bout that.

but at least I spelled it right.

Actually, English spelling was pretty much standardised by the 19th century. Syntax and expressions were a little different: spelling, at least amongst the educated, much as it is now.
