Subject: Ooh, are we having a bad poetry competition?
In reply to: Ramses 2 's message, "Silly question time" on 10:07:13 08/05/05 Fri

Hi there, Ramses 2. Long time no disagree.

I can see Spike sharpening his quill... I mean, filling his fountain pen... I mean scribbling the following, in plain Ye Olde English:

But hark! The Spark
Hath hit its mark!
Slutty Buffy calls me.
Twixt chance and luck
We thrice did . . . ! (yuck)
Oh, that it would forever be.

I don't know when a certain four-letter word became current, so perhaps Victorian Spike didn't know it. But Buffy-era Spike sure did and if he couldn't spell that, then he really wasn't the sharpest stake ... I mean, the brightest star in the heavens. Maybe I'm being too harsh, because he could have meant they did unspellable things from the Karma Sutra. After all, English, Greek, Latin, Demon - they're all first and second languages to William and Spike. But Hindi, well, that's like Babylonian or ancient Sumerian. :-)

In my heart I know that he said what he did just to illustrate how wonderfully memorable Buffy-sex was, but if I'm being literal-minded I can more easily imagine that he was referring to the unspellable ways they killed demons together. ;-)

That certain four letter word is thought to have Anglo-Saxon roots. Certainly Germanic etymologically speaking, similar derivation is the related verb "ficken" which means to copulate.
