Subject: It's never too late to adopt a new Slayer medium

We've all been tossing around thoughts and ideas on what we're going to do with ourselves now the end is upon us.

I personally will continue to re-watch re-runs, my DVD's and video's, and I'll read fanfic and keep visiting her as long as I can.

Oops, and I will go visit AtS and try really hard to get into the show.

But I wanted to find something else, Slayer related, that I could try. So. I ordered in the first issue of Fray (3rd printing aparently)

I wasn't expecting a great deal, because I'm not a great comic affictionado, or in any way geeky.

I have to say though... I am mightily impressed.

The setting is future. The only thing you know for sure, is that "... no-one has been called for over 200 years..." and as the environment is sort of post-appocolyptic it made me think that it could be after the effects of Chosen.

The heroine is a 'Chosen One', but she doesn't know it yet. Street-wise, hard, but with a soft centre and a set of morals that she keeps to - she reminds me more physically of a Faith than a Buffy, but she is so cool and reckless, like the spunky Spike I love.

The story seems solid too - but I won't reveal that.

The artwork is unlike any comic I've ever read, and the expressions the artist manages to convey for Melaka Fray, the heroine, are very powerful.

I would seriously recommend you go out and, at the very least, get a copy of issue 1.

As Spike might say: "This is the future children..." and the word is "Whedonverse lives"
