Subject: The Search for Christianity

An excert from the book, THE SEARCH FOR CHRISTIANITY by Dean Kratzmeyer

p.64

"The church in America has been praying for revival for at least fifty years. Many think that God is just reluctant in His desires to send a refreshing. How can we possibly read our Bibles and come up with such a conclusion? God is more ready at any given instance to send revival than we ever could be ready to ask for it. Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it. How can we think it is somehow His disinclination or disinterest? His desire is to give all spiritual blessing abundantly. Where did these doctrines come from that teach that God sort of doles out a little here and there with much reserve at just special times, all of which are hidden away in His sovereign wisdom? Such wisdom would be a blatant contradiction to His very nature. Oh the totally detrimental ideas that good men can come up with. Listen to me. The entire bible teaches the readiness of God to bless His people the moment they are ready to prepare their hearts for Him!
What must we do? We must pray. Contrary to what men in this hour may insinuate or what Satan may whisper in our ear, prayer is still the first great force of the Church. Everything depends on its accomplishment. You may feel that yours is very feeble, and indeed it may be, but rest assured that the weight of one prayer prayed with all honesty, regardless of it’s faintness, is greater than thousands offered without heart or substance.
Then we must seek out others that have the same vision that we have. We must unite in any fashion possible and we must unite our prayers. We must prayer that God in His infinite love will send us preachers who have courageous hearts and faces of flint to preach the Word once again that desperately needs to be preached. The sheep are scattered and we need true hearted shepherds willing to stern the tide and speak not as one who fears man, but as one who fears God!
What was it that Wesley said, something like give me a hundred preachers with fire in their souls and an undying love for Christ in their hearts, and I will bring England back to God. Oh, let’s not give up on America. Let us offer true prayer that God will send such men back to our churches. Second to that great work of calling Israel up out of Egypt and planting them in a home of their own, to be called His people, there has never been another country like America and our Mother country, England. With all of our faults, God chose to set a brilliant torch of truth and light in the midst of us that still radiates a beacon of hope to the nations of the world.
Let us forgo the revival seminars and rallies and let every man and woman get earnest within themselves until our literal groans move the heart of God. Strip away and learn to hate all pretentiousness. Speak your truest heart into the ear of God who is forever bowed down very low to hear our faintest cry, "God visit us your people one more time!" "
